More Seattle

The weather was gorgeous so we enjoyed basking in the sun and resting after walking forever on steep hills.
It was the 4th of July, so we watched the fireworks later that night.
The view from the train/tram on our way out.
Finally home enjoying our last night without kids on SoCo.
It was a wonderful trip I will never forget. Thank you my love for the sweetest surprise ever and thank you to my in-laws for taking such good care of our girls while we celebrated an important milestone.

Part 2: Seattle

We ferried to Seattle. It was gorgeous and sunny as we left Friday Harbor and then it turned really cold and cloudy. But, I do love ferry rides and prefer to sit on the outside section of the boat so we did when we embarked and then again when landing. This ferry was the bumpiest ferry ride I had been on. Omar insisted that it was perfectly safe, but I didn't enjoy that part at all.
This is a gum wall on the Pike Place hillclimb. Yes, it is full of gum. Pretty disgusting, but it was kinda cool to look at from afar.
The upside to Omar traveling for work is that he racks up airline miles and hotel points and we get to go on trips like these and stay in upgraded hotel rooms. Omar assures me that the hotels he stays at for work are not this nice and that rooms booked with points are like rewards so the rooms are nicer or have a view or something rewarding. Anyway, we were on the 30 something floor so the view was pretty cool.

Elena plays music

elena plays twinkle a video by josiegut on Flickr.

A couple of months ago, Elena figured out how to play "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" by ear! I immediately pulled out the keyboard and she has since figured out a few more songs. I am amazed. I was definitely in high school when I was able to do this.

June

I've fallen behind and really want the blog to be organized by months so please bare with me while I catch up on June, July, and now August. In June we visited Sea World...
... We walked across the street to our neighbors birthday party that had a petting zoo! Marisa and Karina are animal lovers and were thrilled. Elena was much more interested in socializing.
...I was proud of myself for hosting two families. We each had 3 kids and they all fit on our table! The babies where in their high chairs.
...We attended part of a series of the Hartman "Concerts at the Park" by the Austin Symphony
....did a little reading
...had eyes checked
Met up with my family in San Antonio for lunch and window shopping
Karina napped while we shopped
Elena finished Dual language summer school
and with school finishing, Karina was finally able to sleep in. This is her one morning after I took her out of her crib to dress her. She rolled over as soon as I laid her on the changing table. She is clearly not a morning person. ;)
And finally, Omar and I enjoyed a night downtown after dropping off the girls with Omar's family to start our 10 year anniversary celebration trip. :) We are waiting for the bats here.

Kayak whale watching tour

I couldn't trust myself to take the good camera so we bought a rinky dink waterproof camera. The pictures aren't great but it did it's job in preserving our memories of that chilly day amongst the whales
