Bluebonnets and Eggs

It's springtime despite the freezing weather here two days ago. We traveled to Independence about an hours drive to get pictures of Elena in the bluebonnets. There were so many people taking pictures of their children in the flowers. Daddy taught Elena about flowers and now everytime she sees a flower, she grabs one, puts it up to her nose to smell it and says mmmmm. You could imagine her delight when she saw a field of them.

Elena had her first Easter Egg Hunt. We went to one with our church's mom's group. Elena would grab an egg and wasn't interested in getting more. I had to encourage her to keep looking. She managed to get six and was so excited to find her favorite item inside---something edible. On Easter Sunday we decided to have "cascarones" for our hunt at home. Again Elena was happy with one egg. I let her break one on daddy and then I broke one on her. She must've remembered the candy in the plastic eggs because she kept trying to eat the confetti.

She's walking!!

I always thought Elena would walk at 16 months. She must have known this because she suddenly began taking her first steps only a day after turning 16 months. It seems as if she's walked for months because she confidently walks, picks herself back up, and continues like she's done this before. Of course, I had to show you a video.

Aggie fan

Our good friends gave us tickets with great seats to an Aggie Baseball game. Thanks Thomas and Rachel! Also thanks to my friend Angie who gave Elena this cute Aggie outfit that her daughter outgrew.

This was Elena's 2nd time at a game. Elena was very interested in walking around and exploring the stadium so we watched from there. She can't get enough of her daddy as you can see in now one of my favorite pictures.

She's stands!!!

As many of you know Elena has taken her sweet time learning big skills and perfecting them in her mind. When she crawled she never practiced. One day she decided she had studied it enough and just started to crawl. It looks like she's following the same method to walk. One day she was in a bear crawl position--arms locked and on the ground and legs apart. She went into a squat position and then she stood. We clapped and cheered and that's what she does now. She's taken maybe 2-3 steps on her own but completlely by accident. Nevertheless, I know she'll walk very soon and it's so exciting to see how excited she is. Here's a video clip...notice how careful she is.

Keeping with the times

After seeing so many of my friend's blogs and getting to know them better through them, I decided to start one myself. I'm new at this whole process of digital cameras, downloading, resizing pictures, etc. so we'll see how this goes. I'm especially anxious to share our lives with our family since distance sometimes keeps us apart.
