And incase you can't figure out what she's saying

Elena: Bee-bee (baby baby), bee-bee....Bee-bee mano(hand)...uh-oh palla (ladybug)...mano bee-bee...how(hair)how....ojo(eye), bee-bee...no ojo, how...bee-bee ojo, eye.

And you probably figured out she's been told not to touch Marisa's eyes.

My sweet girls

I love to see the bonding that happens between my two girls.

"Please don't put that green thing in my mouth."

Books, books, everywhere...

Elena has always loved books. These last couple of weeks she has spent many hours throughout the day pulling books out of her bookshelves one by one and looking through each page meticulously. By the end of the day I have so many to put away, but I really can't complain.

1st photo shoot

With baby's belly full of milk, big sister sound asleep, and cloudy skies (gives great lighting for outdoor photos) the timing was perfect for Marisa's first photo shoot. I remembered how I love taking photos of infants because they can't move yet like my busy little toddler does now. Oh, and I just love Marisa's crazy hair! :)

Happy Valentine's Day!

Omar is not much of a Valentine's Day fan so I was pleasantly surprised when he came home for lunch just to make one of my favorite treats--chocolate covered strawberries. And of course I had to share with Elena who doesn't like sweets very much. After her first one she only wanted to eat the strawberry and removed the chocolate. She hasn't figured out that there are sweeter things than fruit (her favorite)but I'm okay with that.

Laundry

I wish someone had warned me about the amount of laundry increasing after adding another member to the family, one tiny member. How can one little 10 pound baby add an additional day of laundry during the week? It really would not be that big of a deal except that with a 3 hour feeding schedule, meals for the rest of the family in between and everyday chores I barely manage to stay afloat with the laundry. Between washing, folding, and putting it away, I am doing something that has to do with laundry on everyday of the week!! Wouldn't it be nice if the amount of work would not increase with each additional child? If the work just got done magically? Unrealistic I know (except for celebrities maybe). But then I could have all day to play with my little ones. One can dream, but until then I'm off to fold some laundry.

Mardi Gras

My church had a Mardi Gras celebration tonight for the kids, but parents and children alike got to learn many facts behind this celebration because they very nicely displayed the origins of the games the children played at all the booths. They also served food for the occasion, such as King's Cake. In Laredo, we eat this cake on Three Kings Day. You can learn more about the origins of Mardi Gras and it's Catholic background here.

Trying her mask on---upside down
Anxiously decorating her cookie so that she can eat it.
Her friend, Ellie, proudly displaying her finished crafts.

On another note, Elena used the potty today for the first time!!! I had to record this milestone somewhere. Good job Elena!!

So much to say

I had a long and precious conversation with Marisa tonight, listen below.
